Dental Implants

The closest thing modern dentistry has to a natural tooth

An implant replaces the root as well as the crown, which is why it preserves bone, protects neighboring teeth, and functions like the tooth you lost.

Why the root matters

Jawbone is maintained by the force transmitted through tooth roots. Once a tooth is removed, the bone in that area begins to resorb, and within a few years the ridge visibly narrows and the face loses support in that region.

A titanium implant integrates with bone and restores that loading, which is the reason it is the only replacement option that actively preserves the ridge. Bridges and partial dentures replace the visible tooth but do nothing for the bone beneath.

Planned in three dimensions

We use cone beam 3D imaging to map bone volume, density, sinus position, and nerve pathways before surgery. The implant position is then planned digitally from the final crown backward, so the restoration sits where it needs to for a natural emergence and a balanced bite.

Where bone volume is insufficient, grafting or a sinus lift builds the site first. Skipping that step is the most common reason implants fail years later.

Single teeth to full arches

A single implant supports one crown without touching the teeth on either side. Two implants can carry a bridge across a longer gap. Four to six implants can support a fixed full-arch restoration for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth, or can stabilize a denture that will not stay in place.

Implant-retained dentures alone change quality of life dramatically — patients eat foods they had written off years earlier.

The implant timeline

  1. 01

    Plan

3D scan, health review, and a digital plan showing exactly where the implant will sit and what it will support.

  2. 02

    Place

Guided placement under local anesthesia, typically an hour, with grafting if the site needs volume.

  3. 03

    Restore

After three to six months of integration, we scan and deliver the final custom crown, bridge, or denture.

Frequently asked questions

Does implant surgery hurt?+

The placement itself is done with local anesthesia and most patients report less discomfort than an extraction. Mild soreness for two to three days, managed with over-the-counter medication, is typical.

How long does the whole process take?+

Most cases run three to six months from placement to final crown, because bone integration cannot be rushed. Cases needing grafting take longer; some situations allow immediate temporary teeth.

Am I a candidate?+

Most healthy adults are. Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking, active gum disease, and inadequate bone all need addressing first, but rarely rule implants out permanently.

How do I care for an implant?+

Brush and clean around it daily with floss or an interdental brush, keep professional maintenance visits, and wear a night guard if you grind. Peri-implantitis, not failure of the metal, is the main long-term risk.
